Back in the day, I was an Oracle DBA and developer, so this announcement brings a little extra nostalgia: YugabyteDB Anywhere is now available on Oracle Cloud Marketplace! 🎉
YugabyteDB already gives organizations considerable choice in where they deploy… public clouds, on-premises infrastructure, and Kubernetes. With the addition of the Oracle Cloud Marketplace listing, “Anywhere” gets even more anywhere.
What’s Available?
YugabyteDB Anywhere (YBA) is listed as an OCI Application with a BYOL (Bring Your Own License) model.
You can find it by searching for “yugabyte” at Oracle Cloud Marketplace, or jump directly to the YugabyteDB Anywhere listing.
YBA provides a self-managed database-as-a-service experience for deploying and operating YugabyteDB clusters, called universes. It automates database operations while allowing you to run on your preferred infrastructure.

You now have a marketplace starting point for bringing YugabyteDB’s distributed PostgreSQL capabilities into your OCI environment, with YugabyteDB Anywhere providing deployment and lifecycle management.
More Choice in Where You Run
Infrastructure decisions rarely happen in isolation. Organizations have existing cloud investments, networking standards, operational practices, and application dependencies.
YugabyteDB Anywhere supports deployments across AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, OCI, on-premises infrastructure, and Kubernetes. Its management capabilities include scaling, database upgrades, backups, monitoring, and security configuration.
For OCI customers, the marketplace listing adds another way to discover and begin deploying YBA within their chosen cloud ecosystem.

The distinction is useful:
- Choosing Oracle Cloud infrastructure and choosing your database technology are separate architectural decisions.
From Marketplace to Your First Universe
The marketplace listing is the starting point. To deploy database universes on OCI, configure an OCI provider in YugabyteDB Anywhere.
At a high level:
- 1. Prepare OCI resources and access. You need a compartment, appropriate permissions, and networking.
- 2. Choose authentication. YBA supports an OCI API signing key or an instance principal when YBA runs on an appropriately authorized OCI compute instance.
- 3. Configure the provider. Navigate to Integrations → Infrastructure → Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, then create and validate the configuration.
- 4. Deploy your universe. YBA uses the provider settings to create OCI VMs and provision YugabyteDB.
You supply the existing Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs) and subnets; YBA does not create the VCNs for you.
